If you’ve been around here long enough, you know I love a good party dip. Honestly, dips are one of those things that just bring people together. That’s why I couldn’t resist putting a southern spin on a classic favorite with this Southern Fried Pickle Dip. Fried pickles are one of the most popular appetizers at restaurants. They’re tangy, salty, and crunchy, with that addictive quality where you keep saying, “just one more” until the whole basket is gone. That’s what inspired me to turn those same flavors into a dip that’s just as irresistible, without the mess of frying! And what really sets this recipe apart is the crispy fried onion topping. It gives you that golden crunch you’d normally get from fried batter, baked right on top of a creamy, cheesy dip.

It all starts with a smooth base of cream cheese, sour cream, and mayo. That trio makes it creamy, rich, and perfect for scooping. Next comes the flavor, ranch seasoning, garlic powder, and dill to really highlight those classic pickle vibes. Of course, we can’t forget the main event: chopped dill pickles! I like mine finely chopped so you get a little pickle in every bite, but chunkier works too if you want a bigger crunch.

Shredded cheddar is mixed into the dip because we love cheesy dips! Once it’s spread into the baking dish, the dip topped with crispy fried onions. After a quick bake, the it comes out warm, bubbly, and golden with that crunchy finish that takes it over the top.

The best part? This recipe is so easy to whip up. Just a handful of simple ingredients, a few minutes of prep, and you’ve got a dip that tastes like you put in way more effort than you did. Perfect for game day when you’d rather be watching than working in the kitchen. You can make it a day ahead. Just mix everything together, cover it, and keep it in the fridge. Then, when you’re ready to serve, spread it in the baking dish, top with the crispy fried onions, and bake as directed.

Quick Tip: if you end up with leftovers, the onions will soften as it sits in the fridge. To keep that crunch, just save a little extra and sprinkle them on fresh before reheating. Problem solved, crunch restored.

Serve this dip with all your favorite dippers, pork rinds, crackers, chips, and veggies. Trust me, Southern fried pickle dip is going to be the MVP of your game day spread!
