Expert Tips
- Opt for low-carb tortillas to keep the dish low-carb. Look for ones that are flexible and don’t crack easily when rolled and baked. Mission Carb Balance Tortillas are my first choice.
- If you want to make your Pigs in a Blanket ahead of time, assemble them and store them in the refrigerator. Then, bake them once you are ready to serve them.
- Arrange the Pigs in a Blanket on a baking sheet with a little space between each one. This ensures they cook evenly and become nicely browned all around.
Variations to my Low Carb Pigs in a Blanket Recipe
- Use a different seasoning. I find everything bagel to be a great seasoning for Pigs in a Blanket, but you could also use poppy seeds, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, or make your own bagel seasoning blend. Also, you could leave the seasoning out and the rolls would still be tasty!
- Use a different type of cheese. You can use Gouda, cheddar, or mozzarella cheese as alternatives to cream cheese.
